Dallas Women’s Dream Team is a great venue for professional women working together. I’ve found it to be one of several key places to network with influential women in our area. The art of networking combines having an open mind and an opportunity to connect with a variety of different business professionals. Dream Team is made up of a range of professional women and while one person might not be an ideal prospect for your own business, one person might have a personal network that leads to other good synergy partners for your business goals.

My goal in networking is to generate new business for Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) and I have a key vertical based on company size and meeting the key decision maker as it pertains to group health benefits. At MMA, we provide both group health and commercial insurance. My primary focus is the group health, which is typically the second largest expense. In the nine years I’ve been in my role, I have joined chambers, national networking groups, Dream Team, Core 24 and a few others groups. In each group, I have typically met at least 1-2 people who have acted as key contacts for opening doors for new business. Another great networking tool for researching possible new business leads is Linked In. Before I meet with someone for a networking coffee or lunch, I make a point to take a look at his/her Linkedin profile to see who we mutually know and if any of their professional connections might be a good prospect for my focus at MMA.
